But all of her looks were too sad...
So I have a fewww things to say in this little blog post. So I'm going to tell you a list so you can skip over the boring ones. :)
1. Whiffenpoofs 'n' Whatnots
2. Ode to Risotto
3. Messiah Sing-In
4. Question for Quartney
5. Escuela and cookin' mmm.
6. I'm gonna go off on a little tangent that I got from a circle... because that's where you get tangents. :)
7. What's the opposite of an ode? to Upcoming Finals.
8. Any other random crap I decide to talk about with then come out right in this section. :0
Ahem. Anyway. Here we go. :)
1. Whiffenpoofs 'n' Whatnots
So I've been watching the Sing Off. It's so great. I absolutely love it. So natural compared to all the other singing competitions around these days. For those of you who don't know, it's an a cappella singing competition. And I LOVE it. Specifically, I love the Whiffenpoofs. The should NOT have gone home so soon! I bought their songs on itunes... and I love them. I also like... street corner symphony. and I didn't like them at first, but they've started to grow on me... the umm... what are they called? The group with all the music teachers... Groove for thought. I LOVED "Cooler than me." It's pretty much my new obsession.
I need some MAJOR Choir back in my life. It's killing me to not sing everyday. :( Blech. But seriously... when the Whiffenpoofs came out to sing... they looked so dashing that I was instantly in love. And then they opened their mouths... It was just not like any of the other groups... there was none of that boom-sha-whatever that I don't know how to do. It was just SINGING. Beautiful. And that's really all I have to say about that.
Moving on!
2.I love risotto. It's just so freaking tasty. This is my ode to Risotto:
Oh, Arborio
Rice of the Gods
I love to cook Arborio
We're like peas in pods
When you turn into risotto
you taste so great
Creamy risotto
we came together by fate.
I want to cook you and eat you
each and every day
and I would too
If I could get away
with that.
And that's my ode to Risotto. :) I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed my dinner tonight (that consisted of a baked chicken breast with a mornay sauce on top with risotto and glazed carrots) YUMMM. :)
3. Messiah Sing-Ins
I love Christmas. I love the Christmas season. Everything is beautiful. Everyone is nice. And tis the season for Messiah Sing-Ins. As much as I don't really like living in the Salt Lake Valley, I will give it props for the mass amount of Messiah Sing-Ins they hold. I've been to 3 already and might hit up at least one more. :) Woo! I love taking my score and going to sing it. Handel was definitely inspired to write this wonderful work.
The first one I went to was in the Alpine Tabernacle in American Fork. So Amazing. It was a great place to sing! While I didn't really like most of the soloists for this performance (way too much vibrato and awful vowel shapes) it was fun anyway!
Singing the Messiah always makes me think of Mrs Blackburn. Not just from choir in high school... but clear back in the day when she was our ward choir director... and made me, valerie, and Beth sing those recitatives... you know the ones "And lo an angel of the lord came upon them..." that little group... in front of our whole ward. I'd never done choir before and I totally messed up in front of the whole ward! Ah! (That's why it took me so long to get into choir in school by the way... scarred me for a while). But now I've had some more experience... and my nerves don't usually get in the way. HUZZAH.
But anyway. Messiah Sing-ins. Are great. I love them. :)
4. Question for Quartney.
This is random. But. I have a question for you Quartney. Can I be a bridesmaid in your wedding? Whenever it is that you end up getting married. :) That is all.
P.S. I LOVEEE YOU!
5. School. is CRAZY right now. Finals start... TOMORROW. Yes, my finals start on a friday. Weird. I know. But it's my practical... my baking final. And next friday is our written final in baking. This is my crazy homework/finals schedule: Tomorrow is my baking practical where I will be making 1. Chocolate cream pie. 2. Soft dinner rolls. 3. Apple Cinnamon cookies and 4. Banana nut muffins.
Monday: First is my American regional practical where we are having a black box challenge. That means we don't know our ingredients. It has to be Hawaiian themed though. We need to make an appetizer, entree with a starch and a vegetable, and a dessert. That's 5 different things ladies and gents. AH! Also that day, I have a final purchasing project and purchasing portfolio due. Then we have our purchasing final.
Tuesday: American regional written final. Kitchen cleaning. And GIGANTIC portfolio is due.
Wednesday: English portfolio is due. 2 page book report. 5 page research paper.
THURSDAY: Packing for my move. :) No finals though!
Friday: Written baking final. Kitchen Cleaning. MOVING DAY. And the start of Christmas break! WOOHOO! :)
6. I changed my mind about the tangent. This is getting too long. ...maybe next time.
7. Opposite of ode to upcoming finals.
Finals I hate you.
so does everyone else.
It's kind of like... pooh.
that we even have to take you
By the time you roll around
No one likes school anymore
complaining is an oft head sound
and everyone wants to be homeward bound
I'm not much of a poet
and I think we all know it
but with finals coming up
i really can't help it.
They really suck
and it's just my luck
that i'm still in school
and teachers don't give a... very helpful study guide.
Gotchya didn't I? :)
I'm a regular Dr. Seuss. Except I'm not a doctor... nor is my name Seuss... but then again, I guess his wasn't either...
8. RANDOM.
I don't know how to pop my ears. I never have. I'm broken. I can never learn to scuba dive because I can't pop them. This upsets me. Katie Matheson can scuba dive. I think it would be really neat. But I can't. Because I can't pop my ears. I'm broken. :(
Well. That's all. This was long. GROSS. Sorry!
CIAO! ADIOS! ALOHA!
Of course you can :)
